Last March I was diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia. I
had been having severe knee pain for about five years prior and I tried all
sorts of treatments for my knees. My knees hurt because I needed a hip
replacement but didn't know.
I teach a fitness class daily called Jazzercise and I have
been teaching for 8 years. So, the pain of the knees and finally the right
hip got the best of me and I couldn't in good faith step on a stage in front
of paying customers in the shape I was in.
In May, 2009, I had a RTHR. I am 6 mo. post op right
now and although it has been a long road, I am teaching 5 to 6 fitness
classes per week. My OS assured me that if I were to go through with the
THR that I would get my quality of life back. He was right and like many
others I wish I had been diagnosed sooner.
I had ceramic on ceramic THR. So far, so good. We are blessed that there are
materials being used now in order to allow us to resume our lives!!
My students can see first hand that even though you have
limitations you can overcome them. I am so grateful each and every day for
having had the surgery. If you are considering this and you are living in
pain, don't wait anymore because you don't have to suffer.
Sincerely, Paula Schlegel
